Corrections log
Where does Small Good Things publish corrections?
This log records material corrections and editorial holds. On September 8, 2026, we withheld 255 older stories pending source review and removed unsourced customer-review statistics and offer claims from buying guides and comparisons.
What counts as a correction?
A named fact that does not match its primary source, a source or product URL pointing at the wrong
thing, or a review that still treats a discontinued product as a current pick. Spelling fixes that
do not change meaning are not logged. We do not bump updatedDate for cosmetic edits.
What is in the log so far?
The entries below record material changes, most recently on October 7, 2026. If you have supporting evidence or notice an error, email hello@smallgoodthings.org.
| Date | Page | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| October 7, 2026 | Baby carriers | Removed the incorrect Caboo DXgo newborn-wrap recommendation and other unsubstantiated entries. Corrected model naming and carrying limits, added manufacturer and NHS sources, and removed unsupported numerical ratings. |
| October 7, 2026 | Bottle sterilisers | Replaced generic high-chair advice with a sourced comparison of three models. Corrected storage, cycle and Milton method claims; removed unsupported scores and entries. |
| October 7, 2026 | Editorial process and buying guides | Retired automated story-padding code. Separated evidence-check dates from edit dates and replaced unsupported claims about large-scale owner-review research in our methodology. Older content remains under review. |
| October 23, 2026 | 43 stories | Temporarily withheld stories whose cited source no longer loads, points to a section page or an unrelated article, or does not support the story's central claim. Original URLs now explain the review. |
| October 23, 2026 | 98 stories | Checked every sentence in template-generated "What happens next?" sections against the cited sources. Removed unsupported forward-looking statements, rewrote partly supported ones to match the source, and added a dated note to each changed story. The audit is published in our repository as docs/next-steps-audit-2026-10.md. |
| October 23, 2026 | 5 stories | Rewrote the Lake Tuz flamingo, Mission 300 electricity, Ethiopian chicken, infant mortality and New York subway stories from their cited sources, removing process and outcome claims those sources did not support. The infant mortality headline now names India, China and Indonesia, as its source does. |
| October 23, 2026 | Links to related sites | Added a "same owner as Small Good Things" disclosure beside links to related sites where it was missing, including donation links to World Animal Rescue Network and links to PickMyAccountant, PickMyPharmacy and FlightLogic. |
| September 25, 2026 | 10 stories | Temporarily withheld stories whose only cited source was an organisation landing page rather than the supporting report. Removed an unsourced sentence claiming officials had verified results from 14 story summaries. Original URLs now explain the review. |
| September 25, 2026 | Buying-guide descriptions | Replaced “strong Amazon ratings” wording in 44 guide descriptions and two quick answers. Our scores are editorial assessments; we do not publish customer-rating statistics without provenance. |
| September 8, 2026 | 255 older stories | Temporarily withheld reporting with homepage-only sources or repeated evidence claims requiring confirmation. Original URLs now explain the review; drafts are preserved. |
| September 8, 2026 | Buying guides and comparisons | Removed unsupported customer-review counts, customer star averages and recurring-offer assertions. Editorial scores remain labelled separately. |
| September 8, 2026 | Zion Jerge rescue story | Removed a portrait pending reuse permission. Source reporting and the interview link remain available. |
How do I report an error?
Send the canonical URL, the sentence, and a source link. We check the cited primary source first. If we were wrong, we fix the page, set the updated date, and add a row here. If we were right, we will say so and leave the page alone.
Full process: editorial policy. Story standards also live at /EDITORIAL.md.
